Waverley Baseball Club is pleased to advise that Paula Papanicolaou has been elected as a Life Member of the Club.
Paula first came to the club like many when her boys started T-ball and rookie ball. It wasn’t long before she was heavily involved in junior coaching not only helping her husband Arty, but also developing the domestic program, which grew to teams competing against each other every Friday night and Saturday morning. She enthusiastically ran skills training sessions and was a natural on the back of her experience as a primary school teacher
Her enthusiasm was infectious, and her training sessions were heavily attended and one of the contributing reasons our junior program back then was so successful.
Paula was also the driving force and founding member of the women’s program. Again, with Arty as head coach the women’s program started and, after a hiatus, has been rebooted in the past two years in large part due to Paula’s enthusiasm and participation. Paula’s vibrant personality and competitive determination has driven and got this program to the position it is today. The time and effort she has put in is enormous!
Paula will gladly help when asked, she has filled in on many occasions in men’s teams when they have been short of numbers, even this winter season she helped out.
