Nov 5 – Nov 8 Games

In a disappointing result we went down 5-4 to Moorabbin. A couple more injuries didn’t help the situation either. Moorabbin batted well, with a number of hits just finding a way to avoid our fielders. On the other side, we batted poorly, and left a number of runners stranded. Well done to Alex Siddans and Mitch Lording – both picking up hits. Jamie Pap did a great job battling through while not at his best.

An error in the fifth inning helped Waverley Wildcats battle to a 3-3 tie with Blackburn Orioles on Tuesday. Waverley Wildcats tallied two home runs on the day. Tyler Evans went deep in the second inning. Jordan Ley had a long ball in the fourth inning. Oswin Wong, Ley, and Evans each collected one hit to lead Waverley Wildcats.

WAY TO GO LADIES !!!! Our two Women’s teams retained their unbeaten status after today’s games. Waverley Black posted a 11-5 win against Upwey thanks to a brilliant pitching display by Alexi And, @ Malvern we took a 4-1 win. That’s what we’re talking about. GO WILDCATS!!!

Lost 3-2 vs Moorabbin It was a disappointing loss for us yesterday, dropping a game that was there for the taking. We started slowly with a couple of defensive lapses contributing to an early 3-0 deficit. Despite outhitting the opposition 7-2 we couldn’t really get much going offensively all day, struggling to get a lead-off on or to capitalise on runners in scoring position. Ned and Pagey did a great job with the ball and battled hard to keep us in the contest. We had some opportunities late in the game to snatch a win but didn’t get it done. Well done to Whitey who made his seconds debut and picked up a hit in his first at bat, and to JJ who had a hit in his comeback game. It will be a good challenge for us to bring the energy and bounce back next week.

10 all draw. Cam Branson started on the hill and battled hard for us, shakey in the first innings gave up 3 off a couple hits, couple walks. The next 2 innings was much better without giving up a run. Coming out of the game even money at 3 all Jeremy Valley got the pill next and unfortunately couldn’t locate the strike zone as well as he would have liked and walked 3 hitters. Corey Adams came in in the hopes that he’d shut the door with loaded bags, unfortunately didnt have his best stuff with him today and we collectively gave up 7 runs in another one of “those” innings. 10-3 to the bad guys. The bats woke up in the bottom of 4 scoring 5 in reply after a long fielding dig. 10-8 Quick inning to get us back in and swinging the sticks again. Good approaches at the plate saw us almost snatch victory from the jaws of defeat. Very dissaplined at bats all day. Under 18 State League – winners! The boys got their first win on the board with a hard fought 8-6 victory over Newport at the graveyard. We made the most of a tight strike zone to rack up the walks, then exploded with the bats late in the game. Dante was great in the field, added a hit and stole a base, Ethan was a strike throwing machine late, and Ollie, Sam, and Nicko had key hits. Great to get a win on the board.
