Summer Season Update: Roadmap to Opening Here is the latest update from Baseball Victoria | Baseball Victoria continues to plan for the resumption of community sport and we are expecting to start the 2021/22 VSBL season on Saturday 13 November 2021. This date is based on Victoria’s Roadmap and subject to change depending on Victorian Government restrictions and how soon the state reaches its vaccination targets that will allow for a return to training and competition. As Victoria makes progress toward vaccination targets, here’s a reminder of the key roadmap milestones and dates in our current plans, which will be used to confirm the VSBL season schedule in the coming weeks. | - If we achieve 70% of eligible Victorians fully vaccinated by 26-29 October:
- Yes: Training commences weekend of October 30-31 with a planned 13 November start date for matches*
- No: Training commencement is delayed and matches will resume 4 December
- * If we achieve 80% of eligible Victorians fully vaccinated by 5 November
- Yes: proceed with 13 November start date
- No: training may commence with 4 December start date, or if there is still no training, push back to a January VSBL start
Monash Council, our landlord, is still awaiting clarification regarding the parameters of participation density & spectators as well as use of the Clubhouse and changerooms. Preliminary information indicates that there will be strict limits on spectators and access to the clubrooms and changerooms. |

A message from our Senior Coach: Adam Bright After such a long time sitting and with a very short period between starting formal training and the start of the season it’s important that you start doing some conditioning work now to start getting the body active again. | With only about 2 weeks of training prior to the season, your success and injury prevention this season will come from what you do now in your own time to get ready for the season. | I suggest you get the legs moving by jogging. You also really need to be throwing and swinging a bat. The clubrooms are still locked down, so you don’t have access to the gym or other facilities however if you are fully vaccinated you can exercise outdoors with up to 4 other fully vaccinated adults, from a total of two households (including your own), once per day. You can spend up to 4 hours outdoors, for exercise and outdoor socialising in limited groups combined, each day. | I’m looking forward to seeing everybody at training as soon as it’s permitted. | |

Coaching Certification We strongly encourage all of our coaches and team leaders to achieve a level of coaching certification. | The three-tiered USA Baseball model provides coaches across Victoria and the rest of Australia with a high-quality resource to develop their knowledge under a new partnership. | This new certification replaces BA’s coaching accreditation. Coaches who have undertaken the Baseball Australia national coach accreditation scheme will have their certification recognised through to its expiry. | They will have six months from the time of it expiring to transition to the USA Baseball Coaches Certification Program. | Level A and B will be free of cost while level C is expected to have some costs for the practical assessment component. | Details of the full announcement from Baseball Victoria are available here. |
